Mission

The Carolina Hickory Golf Association (CHGA) is formed for the following purposes:

  • To preserve the traditions of the royal & ancient game of golf;
  • to promote wider interest in the playing of hickory and persimmon golf;
  • to recreate, as closely as possible, the hickory and persimmon era playing characteristics; and
  • to align the golfing experience with the intentions of the hickory and persimmon era course designers.

1. CHGA shall be organized into an executive committee comprising these elected officers:
a. Captain;
b. Assistant Captain;
c. Honourable Secretary;
d. Honourable Treasurer
e. Honourable Professional and
f. Honourable Historian

2. Officers shall serve a term of three years. The terms of the charter officers shall be staggered so as to provide continuity.

3. CHGA shall be organized into two divisions, both being led by the executive committee as described above. The Traditional division shall comprise hickory players and the Classic division shall comprise persimmon players. CHGA members may play and compete in either division.

4. CHGA will be headquartered in the Pinehurst, NC area and will encourage membership from throughout the world.

The initial focus shall be to achieve critical mass of CHGA in Pinehurst first in the Traditional (Hickory) division and then in the Classic (Persimmon) division.

"5. Membership in CHGA shall be by application from any interested person, male or female. One-time membership fees shall be $100.00 for a Full Membership and $25.00 for a Junior Membership (18 years old or younger)."
