Oakhurst Links Auction

According to Golfweek Magazine, Oakhurst Links will be auctioned off on July 28 by Greenway's Real Estate & Auction of Covington. Apparently Lewis Keller, the owner and person responsible for the 1994 reopening of the Links, is 89 and finally ready to "retire". It will be interesting to see what happens at the auction and to the course. It may be an indication of the status of hickory golf in the US. Cheers, MikeSee More

"You are very fortunate to have discovered the true game of golf at an early age AND appreciate it. Not to mention a great name: J. dub"

"I for one say it won't disappear. I think the norm is for people to discover hickory golf later in life, and ceratinly not your 20's. With time comes wisdom and curiosity."

Metropolitan Hickory Society event results

Genltlemen,  This past Wednesday, the 23rd of May, the Metropolitan Hickory Society held its inaugural event of the 2012 season at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, NJ.  The "Five and Dime" Tournament was an enormous success with 23 participants including a professional division. Ridgewood CC head professional David Reasoner, playing his first ever round with hickories, carded a 76 to edge out Paramount CC head professional, and 1998 runner-up in the U.S. Amateur, Steve Scott.  A rematch…See More

"Mike, I just got back from St. Andrews. I only brought my hickories. Crail Balcomie was a very good hickory course. The Eden Course at St. A was an excellent hickory course and only 40 pounds. "
